Price Tag

"Every man has his price."
- The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase

There is some truth to the statement. What is your price? What is my price? Well, apparently for me it is $100.

Long story short...I participated in a research study about 14 years ago. Recently I was contacted by the group who is performing the research asking me if I would participate in wave four of the study. As an original participant in the study, my involvement was very important- according to the letter I received a couple of week ago. Oh, and the fact that there was a financial incentive didn't hurt either.

I earned $40 for the hour interview, $30 for my saliva DNA sample, and another $30 for the finger stick. Not bad for two hours of "work".

(This post was only meant in fun, and was not intended to have any deep theological implications.)

Ooo, I've been in a research study before, although mine was much more labor intensive. I also got $300 for it.

I had to do breathing treatments for 3 months, one in the morning and one at night. Then, I had to input my information into a pda kind of thing that she uploaded at the clinic.

Mags- For a total time of 2 hours, I thought $100 wasn't bad. I will admit some of the questions were quite embarrassing, so I felt like I earned. My favorite point of the evening was when the interviewer looked at me and said, "You are being very honest with your answers." I guess everyone else lies to make themselves look better. Where were all these fun things when we were at MC just trying to scrape together enough money to buy some Papa John's?

jane: Probably because I already knew about this when I read it... my favorite part of this post was the parenthetical at the bottom of the post. Made me chuckle.

I agree not bad $$$ for the time.

Although now that I think about it when you told me this story you left out the part about the embarrassing questions... hmmm probably 'cuz you knew I'd ask... LOL

Meems- I could just see somebody taking this post the wrong way, so I thought I would save us all a headache and throw out a disclaimer. I'll fill you in on some of the embarrassing questions...at some point! ;)
