And They're Gone

My parents left less than 24 hours after they arrived. Their quick trip was made even quicker for two reasons. First, right as they were driving through Little Rock they received a phone call from the nursing home where my grandfather lives. They were transporting him to the hospital to be treated for an infection that was not responding to oral antibiotics. (My grandfather is doing well. He is getting some IV antibiotics. Stuart went yesterday to check on him and then today he, my grandmother, and Jacob went back to be with him for a little while.)

Then there is the second reason:

Unfortunately they didn't make it very far. When I talked to them a few hours ago, they were already called it a day. My dad tried, but when there were no other cars on the interstate he turned back around towards the closest town. They are in Jackson, TN.

I am trying to stay warm, waiting for the snow, and picking up my apartment. The last few boxes are finally being unloaded! So, how are you?

The Parental Units

The parental units arrived tonight about 7:00. They brought a "new" dinning room table and by "new" I mean new to me. It was my great-grandparents originally. Stuart and Michelle had it in their house at some point as well. Yep, some family share stories, memories, and genese...we do that, but we also share furniture. :) You just gotta love family!!!

An Afternoon With Reed

This afternoon my favorite 2 year-old came over for a little while. His mom had a few errands to run before she went to work and his dad had a few errands to run on his way home from work. Considering he had no nap at that point and has a bit of a cold we had a great time. We started by going to the playground in my apartment complex. It was a bit windy, but he didn't seem to mind.

Then we came back to my place where he watched an episode of Sesame Street.

Then he went down for a nap...of course Jeff showed up about 15 minutes later!

Up And At 'Em

I am up at 6:00 am on a Saturday morning...actually I have been up an hour. I am getting ready for work. I actually work today through Monday, which translates to I most likely will not update the blog until Monday night or Tuesday.

On a separate note, I spent a nice chunk of time at the Jeep dealership yesterday. Nothing majorly wrong, but the parts have been ordered and I will have the privilege of spending one of my days off next week getting everything fixed. At least it is still drivable until then.

Other than that, the last several days have been quiet...well, besides the fact that I dropped the carton of eggs that I bought at the store. Even then, I only broke 4!

Have a great weekend!!!

Apartment Pics

I know you all have been waiting on pins and needles to see my apartment. Since I found the camera cord, here they are.

The living room view from the front door

From the hallway back into the living room

The kitchen

Please ignore the pictures that have not been hung, the backpack, and the jacket over the chair...it's the dinning area, but I only eat breakfast there. :) Once I finish the pantry and get a new table in a few weeks, I'll hang pictures in there.

The office...aka, the room that needs work!

My bedroom view from the door

Another view...the door leads to the bathroom.

And there you have it. I refrained from pictures of the bathroom or the laundry room. It isn't anything special, but it works for me. I am working on a few "neighbor issues" currently. Only time will tell how that whole thing will go.

Home, Sweet Home

I took pictures of my apartment since it was all nice and clean. (I was supposed to have some peeps over for dinner on Saturday, but then it had to be moved to the Land's because I did not have chairs for everyone. It would have been okay in the end, but I didn't mind taking dinner to their house.) However, in the clean-up, I must have put up the camera cord and I cannot find it. Check back tomorrow and I'll try to get them up then.

I am feeling better...not 100%, but better. Good enough to workout with Abbey tonight after celebrating Reed's official birthday. We'll see how I feel tomorrow after working 12 hours. At least I get to wear my new scrubs and shoes! ;)

Oh and Happy Birthday, Reed!

Under The Weather

Sorry about the lack of posting. By the time I finished work on Wednesday, I had a full blown cold. The past several days I have been trying to get plenty of rest. I have managed to get a little shopping done, work on the piece of furniture I bought a week or so ago, and help celebrate my friend, Reed's, 2nd birthday.

I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow before I go back to work on Tuesday.

So Many Excuses

I thought of several titles for this post:
  1. Where O Where Does The Time Go
  2. Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200
  3. Alcohol Wipes, Meds, and Oxygen...Oh My!!!
Anyway, the point is, I thought with all my free time I would have no problem blogging, but that does not appear to be the case.

I am doing well, really well. I am learning how to deal with long days at work and a short amount of time at home. Especially this week...I worked yesterday, today, and I am on again tomorrow. I have a gut feeling it will be a little tough when the alarm goes off in the morning, but then I don't work again until next Tuesday...I guess I should not complain. :)

I'll try to come up with some fun things to post during my time off...Well, we'll see! ;)

First Day

Today was orientation. Here are some highlights:
  • My commute is only 5 minutes. I gave myself way too much time to get to work.
  • Lots of policies and procedures covered.
  • Learned all about the discounts that are available to hospital employees.
  • Benefits, benefits, benefits...from health insurance to life insurance and everything in between.
  • Tour of the hospital.
  • Flu shot.
  • Told I would work Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week which means overtime my first week...only to find out that now I am not working on Tuesday...I have no idea what that means now, but I'll find out tomorrow.
I ended the day by working out with Abbey and then hanging out with Jeff, Abbey, Reed, and Bill until I had to call it a day and come home. Now, it is off to bed. Even though I am not working tomorrow I still have to make an afternoon trip to the hospital for a skills check off and benefits enrollment. I will also be buying a couple of other sets of scrubs for work. It's a tough life!!! :)
