A Few Changes

I am considering a few changes to my blog. Watch to see which ones come to fruition and which ones I realize aren't such good ideas once I am able to catch up on sleep. :)

Loooooong Day

I have just walked in the door from work. It may be one of the loooooongest days I have ever worked. I have much to share, but it will have to wait because I am too tired to think! I'll catch all four readers up later.

Girl's Day

Today my friend, Blair, and I had planned to spend the day together. We had a great time!

It began with a late breakfast at one of my favorite places, Mimi's. Then we headed to the movies to see Batman: The Dark Knight! No spoilers here, but it was good. Of course we both think Christian Bale is pretty cute so we are a little bias. No day is complete without a little pampering, so we ended the day Starbucks and pedicures. Technically we drank our goodies on the way to our appointments, but still...

By the way, has anyone else tried the Vivanno Chocolate Banana Smoothie? I must say, I am a fan.

Then it was back to the real world with cooking dinner, laundry, and mopping. But I did enjoy several hours of just hanging out with a friend. I also have pretty toes to show for it!!! :)

Sometimes I Forget...

...exactly how old I am. Tonight after 5 games of sand volleyball, I can barely lift my right arm over my head. I am very aware of my age. I'm taking some Aleeve and going to bed. Why am I still up at midnight anyway?

Madeline

She's here!!! She arrived this afternoon at 4:08 and came in at 7 pounds 3 ounces and 18 3/4 inches long. Her hair is brown and she has a good head of it. I'll post pictures as soon as I get one...hint, hint! (Technically I have one on my cell phone, but I don't want to embarrass her quite this early in her life!)

Accomplishements

It's been one of those days that I can look at my day and see several accomplishments.

It began before the rise of the sun with the shells crunching beneath my new running shoes. I completed a mile run in 9 minutes and 45 seconds. Last week it was 11 minutes, so I feel really good about that. I'm going to go ahead and shoot for getting my mile to about 9 minutes. I reminded my dad over the phone that even in my peak of basketball career I could not run a mile that fast. :)

I went in to work knowing I was going to have a pretty physical day there as well. I painted, moved things, and cleaned up all the mess. It's nice to finish your day and see that a room had been transformed before my very eyes.

I feel accomplished and am now dog tired. I've had a bowl of cereal (a.k.a. dinner when your tired) and am now ready to call it a day. Good night!

Life Without Regret

One of my goals in life is to not have a ton of regret. I don't want to be plagued with "if onlys" or "what ifs". I want to live a life of walking in faith to God and obedience to Him.

This week I had an opportunity to make a decision that hit all three of these areas: no regret, faith, and obedience.

I made an offer on a house. And while a previous offer that had been considered "dead" emerged Friday afternoon, I have no regrets. I took a huge step of faith and did exactly what I felt that God was leading me to do.

Yes, I am disappointed, but I am at peace. Things may still work out on this particular house, but if not then there is something even better. Until I find "better" (or the current deal falls through) I will continue in faith and obedience which will produce no regret.

Disaster in the Kitchen

I just created the worst disaster in the kitchen. For some time now I have been wanting to try to make hummus from scratch. I have searched through several recipes, but everything seemed too complicated. A couple of weeks ago I found a recipe that only had 5 ingredients. Let me tell you, it was awful! I didn't take any pictures, but trust me, it was just a beige paste. At least the only investment was a can of garbanzo beans. I think I will look at some of the more complicated options or just keep buying it at the grocery store.

I Don't Think It Was Decaf!!!

First mistake, meeting the realtor at Starbuck's. Second mistake, thinking it was wrong to park my car at Starbuck's without going in and buying a little something while I waited for my realtor. Third mistake, ordering a nonfat decaf latte. Fourth mistake, drinking the whole thing.

It's 11:00 pm and I can't get to sleep. I know it isn't that late, but I will pay in the morning when the alarm goes off at 4:40 am.

On another note, I saw a definite possibility on the house hunt tonight. I don't want to say to much because I am trying to contain my excitement. I'll know more tomorrow and will keep you all posted!

I Meant To...

blog last night, but some where in my exciting evening of produce shopping, making dinner, watching mindless television, giving some TLC to some plants, and going to bed early, I forgot. I mean, my evening was jammed packed with critical tasks.

Hopefully tonight I will be a little more on the ball. I am also hoping to look at a couple of houses with my realtor after work, so maybe I will have a house hunt update. It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I have actually looked at anything in person. Last week I did resume the Internet search.

Birthdays and a New Goal

I wanted to take a moment and wish two great guys a happy birthday. Happy birthday to my big brother, Stuart, and my friend, Jeff.

On a completely different note, I thought I would share my new goal!

Now, where do I even begin? I think maybe it should be with some intense stretching and buying one of those exercise balls. I am a little worried that the ball might roll out from underneath me. However, I think I might add this to my list of "things I want to accomplish before I turn 30".

Thursday

You know the best thing about Thursday?

Tomorrow is Friday!!!

It's been a good week, but busy. I have nothing creative, funny, or inspiring to share. I thought I would at least check in so that no one could give me a hard time about not blogging. :)

Madeline's Room

I have to give my big brother (and his sweet wife) some credit...They have done and excellent job on Madeline's room.

T minus 23 days and counting!

Does Anyone Know the Time?

Well, I do.

It's 2:05 am!

Why am I up?

Someone just finished an impromptu fireworks show outside my window.

In case you are wondering, I am not happy right now!

Bargains and Deals

First, I want to wish everyone a belated Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday, time with family/friends, and wonderful food like I did. I also hope you took some time and thanked God for the freedom that we enjoy and the men and women who have made and continue to make that possible.

Today a friend and I went to an area outlet mall to see what bargains we could find. I had several things on my "want/need" list and did a pretty good job of checking them off...First were some new jeans at Gap where I also found this new pink shirt. A friend recently told me that every woman needs a little pink in their wardrobe.

I also found this great black and white polka dot dress with red trim and sweater.

By far, the deal of the day was when I found the Saucony outlet which happened to also be the Stride Rite outlet (Jacob, my nephew, would be proud) and found my running shoes at an incredible price. I am not quite ready for a new pair of shoes, but since these are the "old" model (I currently have the Hurricane 10 and these are Hurricane 8) and a size 11, I couldn't pass them up.

I also bought some other things, but either they are gifts or just not exciting so I will spare you the details/pictures.

I don't think some people go the memo that today is July 5th. I am still hearing fireworks being shot off at my apartment complex. I really wouldn't mind as much except for the fact that I know I will see all the remains of tonight's festivities in the morning on my jog. They never seem to quite pick up after themselves.

Trip Down Memory Lane

On the radio this morning they were talking about memorable family vacations. It only took me a moment for one to come spinning back to me.

It would have been the mid 90s...I would have been in high school, Stuart in college, and Roger in junior high. It was Spring Break and my parents decided we needed to spend it together on vacation. We, or I should say they, decided we would spend some time in Wimberley and San Antonio which were only a couple of hours away. To make the "forced family time" more bearable there were fun little activities planned...shopping at the outlet mall, tickets to see the Spurs play, etc. (I was a teenager and loved basketball and shopping equally, okay not equally, I loved basketball more!)

My dad was in charge of our accommodations and was extremely pleased with himself when he found a great deal on a cabin in Wimberley. We would be driving distances to all the attractions, but still able to enjoy the quiet.

I remember pulling up in the Suburban to our cabin and looking at my brothers. Cabin didn't quite describe it...double wide trailer is a better description. We also found out that my dad had forgone the extra $10.00, so there was no TV. When we stepped inside I discovered that I would be sleeping on the cot that was located on the enclosed patio. I think the icing on the cake was when my younger brother, the country music buff, looked at my mom and began to sing:
So I made her the queen of my double wide trailer
With the polyester curtains and the redwood deck...
I'll spare you of the rest of this Sammy Kershaw "classic", but I cannot hear without thinking of my mom and that trip! By the end of the week were all laughing about our vacation...wait, we are still laughing all the years later.

So, what's your most memorable vacation? Maybe next time I'll share about the time that Roger busted out in "Trashy Women" at Stuart and Michelle's rehearsal for their wedding!

Nothing!

I got nothing tonight! So, I am just going to go to bed.

Hold that thought...Enjoy!
